INTERNATIONAL softball is set to light up the Redlands this summer, with a full schedule of elite women’s games – including Olympians – heading to the Redlands Softball Association from this Saturday.

Softball Australia has confirmed a week-long series of free-to-attend friendlies between Australia’s national women’s team, the Aussie Spirit, and Chinese Taipei, marking a major boost for local fans as the sport ramps up ahead of its return to the Olympic program at Los Angeles 2028.

The excitement comes as Queensland prepares to host the 2027 Women’s Softball World Cup Finals in Redcliffe, putting the state at the centre of the sport’s global resurgence.

Softball Australia General Manager for the 2027 World Cup, Alex Dandanis, said the Redlands series was a rare chance for the community to see world-class athletes up close.

“We’re so excited to bring this unique opportunity to Redlands, and create a space for fans to get up close to the action. It’s not every day Olympians wear the green and gold on community grounds,” she said.

The series includes six games across November 22-26, as well as a free Softball Kids Clinic on Monday November 24 for children aged 5–17 to meet Aussie Spirit athletes and learn new skills.

A second blockbuster arrives at the end of December, when Team USA lands in Queensland for a four-game international series beginning on New Year’s Eve.
