REDLANDS and Bayside residents will have two opportunities to mark International Beer Day on August 7 with events planned both in Cleveland and on North Stradbroke Island.
Each venue offers its own take on the annual celebration, giving locals the choice between a city side gathering or a coastal, island style evening.
In Cleveland, the Grand View Hotel will host an International Beer Day dinner in collaboration with Straddie Brewing Co.
The event begins in the hotel courtyard where attendees can sample canapes and a Straddie brew while meeting head brewer Andrew Sydes.
For many in the community, the evening provides a chance to hear directly from one of the region’s well known craft beer producers and learn more about the brewing process.
Guests will then move indoors for a three-course dinner, with each dish paired to a Straddie beer.
Throughout the night, organisers will share insights into the ingredients, techniques and stories behind each
brew.
The event reflects the growing interest in local craft beer across the Bayside region and highlights the connection between local producers and the community.
A second International Beer Day dinner will take place across the water on Straddie, offering a more relaxed, coastal setting.
While the format is similar, the island location adds a different atmosphere for those who prefer a quieter pace.
Together, the two events give locals options depending on the experience they’re looking for.
International Beer Day is intended as a moment to recognise brewing traditions, local producers and the communities that support them.
As organisers note: “There’s one day a year dedicated entirely to beer, and we reckon that deserves more than just a cold one at the bar.”
