The end of the financial year, for a lot of businesses, can be a busy and hectic time, not least of all for our financial and professional services industries. But as we enter into the start of a new financial year, is your business ready?

  • Have you planned a yearly forecasted budget to benchmark your business against?
  • Have you reviewed your strategic plan and set your annual business goals?
  • Are you up to date with your BAS?
  • Do you know what you spent last year in overheads, wages and business improvement?
  • Have you looked into income sources for this year, including grants and funding?

Grants and funding can aid a business and provide valuable resources for organisations to carry out projects or provide services that they may not otherwise be able to. Federal, state and local governments, as well as many local community groups, offer grants and support to help the development of new and existing businesses.

The state government offers a great range of information on grants and funding via their business.gov.au website, including a Small Business Grants Schedule and Grants finder. In 2022/23, over $15.7b alone was given out to more than 26,000 businesses by the top nine agencies, including Department of Health and Aged Care ($4.9b), Department of Employment and Workplace Relations ($4.2b) and Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development ($1.4b).

Additionally, local Redland City Council grants and sponsorships are available each year to assist local businesses and support local community organisations and individuals to undertake projects. These include:

  • Community Benefit Fund – offers assistance to organisations with items such as equipment or incidental costs
  • Village Events and Activation Grants – is a place-based program that seeks to support the enhanced activation, promotion and vibrancy of Redlands Coast village
  • Capital Infrastructure Grants – available to assist eligible organisations build, renovate or refurbish community facilities in the Redlands, including hard-wired technology upgrades
  • Sponsorship – provides financial and value in-kind support to eligible organisations for initiatives that provide tangible and measurable commercial benefits to council and the community
  • Regional Arts Development – promotes the role and value of the arts, culture, and heritage
  • Local Heritage Grants – to protect, conserve and enhance properties of local heritage significance, identified on the Local Heritage Register

To find out if your business is eligible, visit redland.qld.gov.au or contact the Chamber to discuss how we can engage, connect and champion your business.

In 2022/2023, the Chamber was successful in obtaining three grants to benefit their members, including grants from the state government for mental health as well as locally, for Village Events and Activation, and we are committed to bringing you more support and services this year coming.
