REDLAND Art Gallery has launched its 2026 program with three exhibitions opening across three locations, highlighting local and international perspectives on place, identity and cultural tradition.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said the exhibitions reflected the region’s diverse artistic talent while strengthening connections between artists, community and place.

“An exhibition by Prita Tina Yeganeh highlights the gallery’s commitment to storytelling by engaging with ancient traditions and strengthening cultural connections,” Mayor Mitchell said.

“My Soil Farsh: Iteration 3 (Place, as Guest) reimagines the rich tradition of Persian carpets as a symbol of community and connection.

“We’re delighted that Prita has visited our region and designed the red soil Farsh (Persian carpet) for this exhibition.

“It offers gallery visitors a glimpse into the making of the Farsh and traces the labour, rituals and cultural tools that shape it.”

Also on display is The Hidden and the Held by Russell Island artist Sorour Fattahi.

“Sorour stitches her own hair into self-portraits; a thread once tied to beauty, then to loss, and now to quiet resilience,” Mayor Mitchell said.

“Her works explore the fluidity of identity — something that slips, unravels and reforms — and embody her lived experience of migration, alopecia, depression and self-perception.”

Completing the trio is Passages, showing at The Mezz at the Redland Performing Arts Centre, featuring works by members of The Coochie Art Group.

“This exhibition reflects travels through sea and countryside, evoking memory and connection to place,” Mayor Mitchell said.

“The concept invited a diverse range of responses, from seascapes and landscapes to portraiture, still life and abstract works.”

Exhibition dates

  • Passages, The Mezz, Redland Performing Arts Centre — until March 13.
  • My Soil Farsh: Iteration 3 (Place, as Guest), Redland Art Gallery — February 8 to March 22.
  • The Hidden and the Held, Redland Art Gallery foyer — February 8 to March 22.
