The concept design for a proposed upgraded pump track and skatepark at Cascades Park, Victoria Point will open for public feedback at workshops this week.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said the workshops were ideal for skaters, BMX riders and those with a keen interest in the park to have their say on the facility’s design.

“We’ve heard about what elements the community would like to see included in an upgraded skate park and pump track, and now we want to hear your thoughts on the concept design,” the Mayor said.

“This is a great opportunity to help shape the future of this popular park and ensure it continues to be a valued community space for many years to come.

“If skating or riding is your passion or you love visiting this park, then I encourage you to attend one of the upcoming design workshops.”

Division 4 Councillor Lance Hewlett said he was pleased to see the project progressing to the next stage of engagement.

“An upgraded skatepark and pump track will provide a real boost for visitors to this already popular park,” Cr Hewlett said.

“The upcoming engagement workshops are a great example of Council working closely with residents and key stakeholders to ensure the upgraded facility is the right fit for our community.

“I look forward to hearing what our budding local skaters and riders have to say about the concept design, which I’m pleased to say currently includes plans for street plaza-style skate elements.”

The free workshops will be held from 3.30–5.30pm and 6–8pm on Wednesday 18 February at Victoria Point Community Hall.

External skatepark design consultants Convic and BMX design consultants Trailworx have been engaged to facilitate the sessions.

Residents can register their interest in attending by emailing civicandopenspace@redland.qld.gov.au or by visiting Council’s Your Say page for Cascades Park.
