It means ‘Victoria Point’ and the Warra Warra cafe is proving popular with its range of cultural tastes and experiences since opening in May.

The cafe, situated on Colburn Avenue, was named by its former owner, an interior designer who fitted it out based on an indigenous theme, complete with artwork.

New owner chef Reon Barnfield has brought his own touches to the cafe, including a new tapas menu which is popular with locals from Thursday to Saturdays from 5pm to 9pm and on Sundays from noon to 6pm.

Hailing from Taupo in New Zealand, Reon said he was keen to establish a restaurant as a way of moving to Australia and living closer to his family, currently scattered through the Redlands.

He is now working with fellow chef and mentor Karl Sweet, also from New Zealand.

“We pride ourselves on using all local ingredients. That is key. And we make all the sauces here from scratch,” Mr Barnfield said.

“I have a passion for food and we are constantly changing and improving the menu.

“The locals tell us there isn’t anything much open in this part of Victoria Point, so they are happy we are here.”

The cafe is open with breakfast and lunch from 7am to 2pm and from 7am to noon on Sundays.

Breakfasts include egg benedict and eggs your way with lunches including a burger, fish and chips and corn fritters.

The tapas menu includes crispy duck, seared Wagu and scallops with cauliflower and couscous.

The cafe seats 20 inside and 20 outside.
