“Queensland Day is about more than history, it’s about the people who shape our communities every day,” Mrs Young said.

“Best of the Redlands is about recognising the volunteers, small business owners, educators and local legends whose contributions often go unseen but never unnoticed.”

Mr Field said the awards aimed to bring the community together by highlighting local stories and achievements.

“This is a chance for locals right across the Redlands region to celebrate the people who make a real difference,” he said.

Mrs Stoker said the awards would acknowledge the individuals, businesses and community groups helping make the Redlands a strong and connected community.

“The Redlands is one of the best places in Queensland to call home, and that is because of the people who invest their time, energy and heart into this community.”

Categories include the Redlands Legend Award, Heart of the Redlands Volunteer Award, Shaping the Future Award for education, Community Hero Award for health and emergency services, Stronger Together Award for community groups, Game Changer Award for sport, Next Generation Award for rising stars, Local Business Excellence Award, Best of the Redlands Dining Award and the Redlands Experience Award for tourism and attractions.

A People’s Choice category will also allow residents to vote for their favourites across all award sections.

Nominations are now open through the official Queensland Government community engagement platform.
