Bel-Air delivers a bold, modern reboot of a ’90s classic
SHARE

A bold reimagining of the beloved ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, this Bel-Air series trades the laugh track for layered storytelling and sharp social commentary.

Rising star Jabari Banks steps into the iconic role of Will, a teenager whose promising life in West Philadelphia takes a sudden turn after a run-in with local trouble.

Sent to live with his wealthy relatives in the upscale Los Angeles neighborhood of Bel-Air, Will must navigate a world defined by privilege, power, and pressure – all while trying to stay true to himself.

Bel-Air dives deeper into the cultural clash and identity struggles only hinted at in the original series. The show explores modern-day issues like race, class, and the complexity of family expectations, set against the glossy backdrop of one of America’s richest ZIP codes.

With strong performances and stylish direction, it’s a thoughtful, contemporary drama that pays homage to its roots while carving out its own distinct voice.

Why watch: A fresh, emotional update of a TV classic – and a breakout performance from Banks that captures both the charm and the grit of the original “Fresh Prince”.

Streaming on 9Now, recently added two first seasons.

As well as Jabari Banks, Bel-Air stars Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones and Akira Akbar.
