A new Australian cooking series is set to bring everyday recipes into the national spotlight, with casting now open for home cooks across the country.

Production company i8 Studio is developing the yet-to-be-announced format, which will focus on real people and the dishes that define their lives – rather than professional chefs and high-end kitchens.

The series is searching for passionate home cooks with recipes that carry meaning, memory and flavour, shining a light on the personal stories behind the food Australians love to share.

Unlike traditional cooking competitions, the concept centres on connection and identity, inviting participants to showcase dishes that bring people together, whether they are long-held family favourites or modern crowd-pleasers.

The casting call is open to anyone aged 18 or over who is legally able to live and work in Australia.

No professional cooking experience is required, with producers emphasising authenticity over technical skill.

“If your recipe brings people together, tells a story, or simply tastes incredible, this is your chance to share it with the nation,” the casting brief states.

Filming is expected to take place over a four-week period between mid-July and mid-August, depending on how far contestants progress in the series.

The project adds to a growing slate of unscripted content from i8 Studio, which has delivered titles such as Night at the Museum for ABC and Adam and Poh’s Great Australian Bites for SBS.

Applications are now open, with hopefuls encouraged to submit their signature dish along with the story behind it.
