IT’S been a huge month for the Redlands Cycling and Multisport Club (RCMC), with members proudly representing Australia at two major world championships – the World Triathlon Championships in Wollongong and the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Lorne.

RCMC athletes delivered outstanding results in Wollongong, which provided ideal race conditions on a tough course.

Linda Meredith claimed two gold medals (Sprint and Mixed Relay) meaning she’s now a world champion.

Kelly Phuah earned silver in Standard, bronze in Sprint, and gold in the Mixed Relay, even out-sprinting ex-pro triathlete Michellie Jones.

Kai Haynes took home two silver medals in Sprint and Relay.

Strong performances also came from Bridget Copeland, Bronwyn Williams, Kate Gayner, Joanne Johnson, Donna Cameron, and Sally McLean, who all showed grit and determination across multiple events.

At the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Lorne, riders faced strong winds and steep climbs along the Great Ocean Road.

Ann O’Brien described it as “a tough but stunning course”.

Julie Rappo finished 11th in the Time Trial and completed her longest-ever ride in the road race.

Mark Coxon had a memorable day – “the best ride I’ve ever had”.

Both events captured the true spirit of endurance sport – camaraderie, perseverance, and pride in the green and gold.
