WELLINGTON Point’s rising star Hannah Buckle is hitting all the right notes with key roles, documentary interest, original music and performance success marking a standout year for the 13-year-old singer-songwriter.

Hannah has spent much of the year performing across South East Queensland, busking at the Cleveland and Gold Coast markets, the Tivoli Drive In at Ipswich and most recently at Live and Local in Middle St, Cleveland.

Her growing profile has attracted the attention of Darren Young from Six6 Films, who plans to feature her in a podcast series highlighting Redlands’ emerging talent.

Local composers Michael Quinn and Michael Stewart have also written an original song for her, Shimmer Like a Diamond, now on Spotify.

She’s recorded several cover tracks at Resonate Music studios in Capalaba, and earlier this year took out first place in the Junior Rise Up competition with Performance Studios, winning $2000 and a $200 Universal gift card.

Her mother, Danielle Marshall, said Hannah’s passion for music began early.

“At age three, we gave Hannah a Dora the Explorer Christmas album, and it became our radio,” she said.

“Within one month, she had every song down pat – even the Spanish words – and I realised she actually sounded pretty good.”

Hannah’s first public performance came at age eight during an open mic night at 13 Axes in Cleveland, later followed by sets at Eat Street markets.

She began vocal lessons soon after, first with Anita Taylor’s Vocal Academy and now with Anna Butterworth at Sheldon College.

Hannah’s credits already include Tinkerbell in Peter Pan, Little Alice in Alice in Wonderland, and Annie in Rockit Production’s Annie.

She will next take the stage as Matilda in Sheldon College’s junior production of Matilda on November 14 and 15.
