The Cleveland branch of the NAB will close on September 14 this year with regular customers diverted to Capalaba.

Retail customer executive Sandra Haines said the closure followed a customer drop off using the Cleveland branch, saying that about 60 per cent of Cleveland customers had only visited the branch once in the past year.

“Almost 70 per cent of customers are already using other branches,” she said.

To facilitate this change, the bank had invested more than $1.1m in refurbishing the Capalaba Central Shopping Centre branch which will be re-opened in late August for full service.

There will be a new open plan teller service area, digital education space, meeting rooms equipped with video conferencing technology, ATMs and deposit and change machines.

“The Cleveland team will be helping customers who need additional support with digital banking and also introducing them to the Bank@Post service in the Harbourside Shopping Centre,” Ms Haines said.

“It’s important to us that there will be no job losses as part of this change.

“Our branch team will be provided new opportunities across NAB including additional support in the Capalaba branch.”

Additionally, the bank has renewed its Bank@Post partnership with Australia Post, providing a face-to-face alternative at 3500 Australia Post outlets across the country.

Ms Haines said customers could conduct a range of fee free banking services, including cash deposits, cheque deposits, withdrawals up to $2000 per day and change/coin floats for business customers.

“Under our 10-year agreement, both personal and business customers are able to access this service,” she said.

Ms Haines said customers would continue to be serviced by their agribusiness, business or small business banker.
