EASTER football came to Redlands United on Thursday evening as the Red Devils played SWQ Thunder in their rain-delayed Round 5 Kappa Pro Series game.
What a night it was for the Red Devils.
A 5-0 victory, temporary loss of lights, and a series of firsts, and first team debuts.
As the game began, Redlands were straight on the front foot, attacking and pressuring Thunder.
The Red Devils were on the scoreboard after only nine minutes through Deegan Brook after great work from Isaac Garcia.
Brook was in again 10 minutes later to double the lead, dribbling around and through the Thunder defence.
Six minutes later Michael Bradley leapt high from a Eamonn Ross corner to make it 3-0.
Garcia then scored to make it four goals in under 30 minutes.
The Red Devils did not alter the scoreboard until the 81st minute when Reece Holz scored his maiden goal for the club.
After the game, Redlands Head Coach Garrett McDuling said: “Our match against SWQ Thunder provided us with another competitive match after we have had so many recently cancelled due to the weather.
“We used this match to not only give some of our young talent a sniff of first team football, but it was also a great chance for some players returning from injury to get some loading as we head into another tough block of fixtures.
“Jake Carseldine made his debut in goal and received not only his first senior cap but also a clean sheet.
“We had a number of players receive their senior debuts not only from our 23s but also our Under 18s squad.
“Whilst Maxx De Kramer and Aiden Cutmore both also had solid first senior debut performances, it was Deegan Brook who won another man of the match performance in addition to his two goals scored on the night.
Redlands’ focus now turns to the Round 8 trip to Ipswich to face Ipswich FC.
