BAYSIDE residents are urged to take a stand against domestic and family violence (DFV) by attending a special candlelight vigil next month.

As part of Domestic and Family Violence Awareness Month, the Bayside DV Candlelight Vigil will take place on Wednesday, May 7, from 5.30pm to 6.15pm at Pandanus Beach, Wynnum.

The annual event provides an opportunity for the community to come together in solidarity, hear from survivors and guest speakers, and honour those impacted by DFV.

State Member for Lytton Joan Pease is encouraging people of all ages to attend the important local event.

“Together, we gather and unite by the light of hundreds of candles,” she said.

“It is my pleasure to invite Baysiders to attend this significant Bayside event.

“Let’s take a stand against DFV.”

May marks a critical time for raising awareness and sending a clear message that any form of violence in families and homes will never be tolerated.
