Victoria Point State High School STEM and hospitality students have received a boost with the opening of a $12 million multipurpose learning centre.

The two-storey building includes two robotic rooms, a hospitality kitchen and new classrooms to accommodate the increasing number of in-catchment enrolments.

Principal Dr Robyn Burton-Ree said the new learning centre would create a range of opportunities for STEM and hospitality students.

“The Victoria Point State High School community are very excited and proud to have our new state of the art building,” she said.

“Our teachers are thrilled to be able to teach new skills, content and digital technologies in an innovative way.”

The school’s science block has also undergone a $550,000 transformation to deliver four laboratories.

Education Minister Grace Grace said both the new building and laboratory refurbishments represented a major investment in the school.

“Over the past few years we have also upgraded the hall, installed air conditioning and solar panels and refurbished student and staff amenities,” she said.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the government was investing almost $2 billion a year in new and upgraded school infrastructure.
