Redlands United have shared the points with Lions FC after a 2-2 draw in their round 12 NPL clash at the Compass Grounds.

Lions sealed a dramatic second-half comeback with an equaliser deep into injury time after Redlands had a defender sent off for an innocuous handball.

The visitors found the net less than 10 minutes into the encounter only for it to be ruled out for offside.
Redlands soon took control and after about 30 minutes Peter Klaassen almost had Redlands in front when his shot beat the keeper but came back off the post.

Only three minutes later Jack Skinner put the Red Devils in front when his first time shot from just inside the box gave the Lions keeper no chance.

Klaassen had his goal after 38 minutes following some great lead-up work from Guil Santana, giving Redlands a two-goal advantage at half-time.

Lions pulled a goal back on 65 minutes after their continued pressure led to a mix up and the Redlands defence failing to properly clear the ball away from goal.

Just two minutes later a Redlands central defender was struck by the ball outside the box, seeing the referee issue a second yellow card for handball and reducing Redlands to 10 men.

As the game was about to enter time added on, Skinner had a chance on goal but the Lions keeper managed to save it.

The game went into 15 minutes of additional time, and Redlands played with 10 men for 40 minutes.

As time progressed, Lions managed to score their equaliser and salvage a draw, just like the first-round clash between these two teams.

Redlands are back at home at 8.30pm on Friday evening for a clash with Olympic FC in round 13 of the NPL Men’s competition.

Then on Tuesday evening United host Lions once again in round seven of the Australia Cup before backing up on the Friday night away to Rochedale in the NPL.
