Thousands of Redlanders took part in honouring the history of the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who have and continue to protect the country on an international front.
Almost 80 years later from the end of World War II, Veterans, cadets, bands and students marched the streets to honour Australian history.
The Redlands RSL hosted locals in Cleveland for a dawn service and later on for a parade from the Bowls Club to the Cenotaph.
The Royal Australian Airforce returned for another F/A-18F Super Hornet flyover since the Freedom of Entry Ceremony earlier in April.
The aircraft flew over the cenotaph during the later service from the south before moving towards the islands, changing the original plan to fly east over Shore Street West from Brisbane City.
Redlands Returned and Services League’s Michael McDonnell was MC for the Dawn Service.
Redland City Council, local schools, family, veterans, Army, Navy and Airforce representatives placed wreaths on the cenotaph.
Schools present included Capalaba State School, Carmel College, Sheldon College, Ormiston State School, St Anthony’s Catholic Primary, Star of the Sea, St Luke’s Catholic Parish School, Thornlands State School, Wellington Point State High, Faith Lutheran College.
These schools were together with students from Alexandra Hills State School, Ormiston College, Cleveland District State High School, Victoria Point Primary, Cleveland State School, Redlands College and Alexandra Hills State School.
