I can hear everyone saying that lawn bowls is a game for old people. Well, they are right. Old people love playing lawn bowls but most of the great bowlers are all young. The Australian team average age would be in there 20s. Lawn Bowls can be played by young old women juniors and even a bad back or crook knees are not an obstacle. As in most sports the young excel, and their skill levels are extraordinary.

Lawn Bowls is a sport that can be played socially or competitively with many and varied levels that allow you to achieve in a way that many other sports do not.

A reasonably good lawn bowler can compete with a very good bowler and not feel totally outclassed as is often the case in other sports.

A game of lawn bowls lasts about 3 hours and in a pairs game a player may need to walk 3 to 4 km so it’s a great way of staying fit as well. Lawn Bowls is a game of skill and strategy and can not only be thrilling to play but makes for a great spectator sport as well once you get to know a little bit more about the game.

Trust me, it’s not nearly as boring as you may think with competitions pitting player against player and team events where 12 players play 12 players.
