As the solar and battery industry continues its rapid evolution, longevity has become a rare and powerful indicator of quality.

In just a few months, Goodhew Electrical & Solar will celebrate an extraordinary milestone: 20 years in business.

In a highly competitive industry where “fly by night” retailers frequently come and go, Goodhew’s two decades of success stand out as a clear sign of doing things right.

Reaching 20 years comes down to two fundamentals – a commitment to quality, and staying around to support the people who trust in you.

The Goodhew story is a classic start-up narrative – from humble beginnings operating out of the family home in Alexandra Hills with three young children underfoot, the company has grown into one of Queensland’s largest solar and battery retailers.

Today, those same children are well into their twenties, mirroring the company’s own journey of growth and maturity over the past two decades.

“When we first started out of our garage with three young kids running around, our goal was simply to help people get rid of their power bill and provide rooftop solar to every home in the Redlands,” says Anneke Goodhew.

“To look back at the reputation we’ve built and the successes we’ve had is very humbling.

“Having the team around us, the majority of whom have been with the company for more than five years, is one of our proudest achievements.”

Goodhew’s local presence in Cleveland remains one of its greatest strengths.

Nearly two decades operating across the Redlands means Goodhew Electrical & Solar understands the region’s unique climate, harsh sun patterns and specific challenges, particularly those on the Bay Islands.

Choosing a local company guarantees accountability, dedicated after-sales support instead of a faceless call centre, money kept in the local economy, and ongoing support for local apprenticeships.

For Gavin Goodhew, the most rewarding part of the past 20 years has been the national recognition from industry bodies and peers, including the Clean Energy Council’s highest honour, Australia’s Best Solar PV Design and Installation.

“Winning national awards is a fantastic testament to the technical skill and workmanship of our entire team,” Gavin says.

“But ultimately, our greatest reward is giving Queensland families reliable power and peace of mind.

“One of the absolute highlights for me is seeing an off- grid customer have power for the first time. It’s like watching a kid open their first present at Christmas.”

Goodhew’s experience and technical ability have also been recognised through multiple Energy Efficiency Project of the Year and Installer of the Year titles from Master Electricians Australia, accolades from Australia’s leading solar and battery brands, and wins at the Redland Business Excellence Awards.

As the energy landscape continues to shift towards advanced battery storage and smart homes, Goodhew remains at the forefront, delivering award-winning, local expertise to power the next generation of Redland and Bayside homes.
