REDLANDS Coast musician Jake Murdoch hopes a song written in his bedroom studio will one day become part of the soundtrack to the Brisbane Olympic Games.

The 17-year-old composer has released Supergone, an energetic original track he hopes will accompany athlete presentations, sporting highlights and special moments at the 2032 Games.

“I want this to be the anthem of the Olympics,” Jake said.

While not designed for an opening ceremony performance, Jake said he envisioned the song as uplifting background music that athletes and spectators could quickly recognise and sing along to.

“I wanted to feel the music as something an athlete might like to hear,” he said.

“It is the first time I’ve written a sports song, but I’m pretty proud of it.”

Jake spent several months creating Supergone, building the song from 42 individual tracks – all played and recorded by him.

The production features synthesiser, piano, drums, electric, acoustic and bass guitars, with aquatic sounds incorporated into the opening to reflect swimming and water-based Olympic events before the music shifts to suit a broader range of sports.

“The process changed as it was written but at the beginning, I just wanted to record what was playing in my head,” he said.

Jake said he hoped the track would be memorable enough to “get in people’s heads” and become something audiences associated with the Games.

Both instrumental and lyric versions of Supergone have been released through Brisbane distributor GYRO Music, and Jake said the song had been submitted as an Olympic proposal through ongoing email discussions.

Managed by his mother Natalie Murdoch with assistance from Roger Nicholls, Jake has already built an impressive musical resume.

In 2025, he performed at the World Expo in Japan, while in June this year he was nominated for a Young Achiever Award, using the opportunity to promote and perform Supergone.

He has also appeared as a backing musician for former Yellow Wiggle Greg Page in the music video Keep the Beat Going, representing a teenager alongside performers of different ages playing a range of instruments.

Able to play 16 instruments, Jake is already looking ahead to his next musical challenge – learning the theremin, an electronic instrument played without physical contact through radio antenna sensors.

Supergone is on major music streaming platforms at gyro.to/451647-supergone.
