FORTY-EIGHT community organisations across Bonner will share more than $66,000 in Federal Government funding to support the volunteers who keep local sporting clubs, charities, environmental groups and community services running.
The funding comes through the Federal Government’s 2025-26 Volunteer Grants program with grants designed to help organisations buy equipment, provide training, cover transport and screening costs, improve accessibility and deliver other practical support.
Local recipients include Sailability, Meadowlands Men’s Shed, Wynnum Manly Seagulls, Girl Guides, Beyond DV, Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee and Meals on Wheels Mt Gravatt.
Federal Member for Bonner Kara Cook said the grants recognised the often-unseen work performed by volunteers across the electorate.
“What makes Bonner special is its people, and time and again I see local volunteers stepping up to support their neighbours and strengthen our community,” she said.
“Forty-eight local organisations will share more than $66,000 to help give their volunteers the equipment, training and practical support they need.
“From supporting people experiencing domestic and family violence to delivering meals, protecting our environment and creating opportunities through sport, these organisations make an extraordinary contribution across Bonner.”
The local funding is part of a $9.85 million national program, with individual grants starting at $1000.
