A gifted local actor will be representing Australia at the World Monologue Games at only nine years old.

Thornlands resident Scarlett Monks is set to take on the World Monologue Games, known as the “Olympics for actors”.

Scarlett will be representing the green and gold in the Tigers category (11 and under) Regional Final after submitting two entries to the event.

The World Monologue Games is a spirited competition spanning six distinct categories, with thousands of international performers from over 100 countries.

Scarlett said she was excited about being selected for the highly anticipated event.

“As I represent Australia, I’m joining a league of remarkable performers from around the world,” she said.

“The anticipation for my upcoming performance is electric.”

At only nine years old, Scarlett had both her monologue submissions selected by the judges for the regional finals in the under-12 category.

Scarlett will be performing two captivating monologues, the first about saying goodbye to a beloved pet and the second about trying to please her dad, a former Olympic swimmer.

The young actor is represented by Gilchrist Management and is no stranger to the spotlight after featuring in five short films in leading and supporting roles.

The Regional Finals will be broadcasted via livestream throughout October 2023.

Performers will compete for cash prizes and the prestige of landing on the podium at November’s Global Finals.
