THE Quandamooka Festival will return to Minjerribah this year, bringing two days of traditional dance, music, art, storytelling and workshops celebrating the living culture of the Quandamooka people.
Presented by the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation in partnership with Queensland Music Festival, the 2026 Quandamooka Festival – known as Qfest – will showcase a diverse program of Kunjiel, or corroboree and traditional dance, live music, visual arts, weaving, bush tucker, markets, panel discussions and storytelling.
QUAMPI director Avril Quaill said the festival had continued to grow into a major event on Queensland’s cultural calendar.
“We’re all very excited to be presenting Qfest again this year on Minjerribah, showcasing artistic excellence on Country,” Ms Quaill said.
“Qfest is a fabulous opportunity to all come together, celebrate Country and share our rich culture through performing and visual arts, with community and visitors alike.”
QYAC chair Cameron Costello said the festival also highlighted the growing importance of First Nations tourism as Queensland moved towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Cultural Olympiad.
“Qfest is more than a cultural celebration, it’s a platform that showcases Quandamooka culture here on Minjerribah and connects global and domestic audiences with the oldest living culture on Earth,” Mr Costello said.
“QYAC is proud that Qfest is growing in popularity and is positioning Minjerribah and South East Queensland as a premier cultural tourism destination.
Tickets will be free but limited, with last year’s festival selling out.
