AUSTRALIAN music favourite Shannon Noll will headline a free, country-themed community event on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) later this month, with The Straddie Hotel hosting the travla Hoedown on Saturday, July 25.
The afternoon celebration will feature live music, line dancing, games and family-friendly entertainment, with organisers inviting both locals and visitors to embrace the western theme.
The event begins at 1.30pm, with The Straddie Hotel transformed into a country-style venue complete with free line dancing and roping demonstrations by Cowgirl Surf Club, a mechanical bull, food and drink specials, giveaways and travla beer.
The Great Australian Rum Co., led by Shannon Noll, will also be supporting the event.
Before Noll takes to the stage for the headline performance, crowds will enjoy live sets from Queen Curlew, Maddie Cail & The Brumbies and DJ NICKA35.
The celebrations will begin before guests even reach the island, with a limited-capacity SeaLink Pre-Party Boat Cruise departing Cleveland.
The $49 ticket includes a live DJ set from NICKA35, line dancing aboard the vehicle ferry and return transport to and from The Straddie Hotel.
Passengers will also attempt to set an unofficial world record for the most people line dancing on a vehicle ferry, with boarding from 11.15am.
Entry to the travla Hoedown at The Straddie Hotel is free, with organisers encouraging guests to dress in their best country attire for the chance to win prizes throughout the day.
Public buses will operate from The Straddie Hotel to the 7.45pm and 8.45pm passenger ferries, making it easy for day visitors to return to the mainland, while accommodation is available across the island for those wishing to stay overnight.
