QUEENSLAND’S next generation of touch football stars have been crowned after more than 4,400 players, coaches, referees and officials converged on Redlands Coast for the 2026 Queensland Touch Football Junior State Cup.

The three-day championship concluded with a series of hard-fought finals, capping off one of the state’s premier junior sporting events as teams from across Queensland battled for honours in age divisions from Under 10s through to Under 18s.

Queensland Touch Football Chief Executive Officer Greg Denny said the tournament had once again highlighted the bright future of the sport.

“Congratulations and thank you to all of our teams for a fantastic three days of competition at the 2026 Junior State Cup,” Mr Denny said.

“Year after year, the Junior State Cup continues to highlight the incredible talent coming through our sport, and this tournament has once again demonstrated that the future of Queensland Touch Football is in very good hands.

“It’s been fantastic to see players, coaches, referees and supporters come together to celebrate our game and create such a positive atmosphere throughout the event.”

From the opening whistle to the finals, teams produced high-quality contests across every division, with passionate supporters creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the tournament.

Among the standout performers were BMTA, who claimed Under 18 Boys, Under 16 Girls and Under 12 Boys titles, while Gold Coast affiliates secured championships in the Under 14 Girls, Under 14 Boys and Under 12 Girls divisions.

Host affiliate Redlands celebrated a memorable victory in the Under 10 Girls competition, with Redlands Red claiming the championship on home soil.

Other champions included UQ Rebels (Under 18 Girls), Palm Beach (Under 16 Boys) and Gold Coast (Under 10 Boys).

Queensland Touch Football also recognised individual excellence during the tournament.

Micaeli Robust, from Gold Coast Touch Association, received the prestigious Kerry Norman Award, while Jontaye Brown, from Arana Touch Association, was presented with the Scott Notley Award, recognising outstanding young role models within the sport.

Refereeing honours went to Ben Hawkins and Abigail Muller, who were named Male and Female Referees of the Championship respectively, while Connor Beck and Eva Carney received the Junior Referee Encouragement Awards.

BMTA also claimed the Eggers/Mowles Trophy as the leading large affiliate, with Bundaberg winning the medium affiliate award and Redcliffe recognised as the leading small affiliate.

Mr Denny thanked the players, coaches, referees, volunteers and supporters whose efforts helped deliver another successful championship.

“The Junior State Cup continues to be a fantastic celebration of our game and a showcase of the outstanding young talent coming through Queensland Touch Football,” he said.
