WOLVES talent was on full display at the 2026 Queensland Representative School Sport Girls Football State Championships in Townsville, with a strong contingent of players and coaches proudly representing their regions on the State stage.

Players selected in the 13-15 years division included Lily Tanner, Bailey Coombs, Olivia Horell, Pippa Graham, Alexandra Parry, Sienna Effeney, Zara Raudino and Sienna Pelusi, with Bridget Sankey also involved as a coach.

In the 16-19 years division, Lily Duell Boardman and Emma Warren represented with distinction against some of the State’s best emerging footballers.

The championships delivered an extra special moment for Wynnum Wolves, with Coombs and Raudino earning selection in the Queensland team following standout performances throughout the carnival.

The achievement capped off a memorable Female Football Week for the club and highlighted the growing strength of the female pathway program at Wolves.

Club officials said the performances reflected the commitment and hard work players continue to put in both on and off the field, with the future of female football at Wynnum looking increasingly bright.

Female Football Week also began in a special way at Wynnum Wolves, with members of the club’s historic 1975 women’s team welcomed back to Carmichael Park to celebrate alongside the current FQPL3 Women’s side.

The 1975 Wynnum women’s team made history as the first Australian women’s football team to travel overseas for an international competition, representing the club in New Zealand at the Union Travel Trophy.

To honour that legacy, the club introduced the Gaye Eames Medal and the Clare Polkinghorne Medal, recognising two women whose contributions to the game and the club continue to inspire future generations of Wolves players.

Club officials described the reunion as a beautiful and emotional moment that highlighted how far the women’s game has come at Wynnum Wolves.
