ORMISTON College students have returned home with plenty to celebrate after a strong showing at the 2026 TAS Swimming Carnival, bringing pride to the local school community.
The Redbacks claimed the Overall Champion School title at the Senior TAS Swimming Carnival, along with Girls’ Champion School honours, after a day of consistent performances across individual races and relay events.
Rather than relying on a handful of standout swims, Ormiston built its success through depth, steady points and strong teamwork.
The girls’ squads were a highlight of the carnival, topping the standings in both the senior and junior competitions.
Coaches said the results reflected a season of preparation and mutual support, with swimmers cheering each other on between races – a sight familiar to parents watching from the stands.
Ormiston also performed well at the Junior TAS Swimming Carnival, finishing second overall in a closely contested field.
The junior results pointed to a strong pipeline of emerging swimmers, many of whom were competing at TAS level for the first time.
The carnival brought together eight co-educational schools from Brisbane and surrounding areas.
For families and staff, the results were about more than medals.
Many praised the sportsmanship and resilience shown by students throughout the meet, whether they were racing for points or supporting teammates.
