A CLEVELAND primary school student is set to pull on the green and gold after being selected in the Australian Under 11 Boys Futsal Team.
Benny Ferguson, a student at Cleveland State Primary School, will represent Australia for the first time when he travels to the Philippines in May as part of the Australian Futsal Association Philippines Tour.
Benny’s football journey began at just five years old with North Narrabeen FC in Sydney before his family relocated to Brisbane.
Since then, he has continued to develop his skills locally and now plays representative Pathways soccer with Redlands United FC.
In addition to his outdoor game, Benny has made strong progress in futsal, competing in Australian Futsal Association (AFA) tournaments and advancing through structured state and national competitions.
His selection in the national squad follows a standout performance pathway through the Schools Futsal Program, where he first represented his region at the Regional Futsal Titles before progressing to the National Championships.
It was at the national level that Benny caught the attention of selectors, earning his place in the Australian Under 11 Boys Team.
The upcoming tour will see Benny and his teammates compete in international matches, take part in training sessions, and engage in community outreach activities across Manila and Subic Bay.
The tour gives the young Redlands player his first chance to represent Australia on the international stage.
