Tenpin Bowler Hannah Clark is the first Australian female in more than 25 years to clinch a medal at the Asian Youth Championships.

The 20-year-old Cleveland resident has recently come away with a bronze medal after competing at the championships in Bangkok.

She competed against other under 21-year-olds in the singles females division.

This is the first medal an Australian female bowler has won at an Asian Youth Championships singles female event since 1997.

Clark said she was excited about her achievement.

“This was my second time representing Australia, but I still feel as grateful for the opportunity to represent this country,” she said.

Clark said her favourite part of the tour was being with such a supportive team.

“We all got along so well and had such a great time on and off the lanes,” she said.

This year has been different for Clark after leaving her previous coach and taking on the coaching role herself.

The 20-year-old’s tenpin bowling journey started in high school.

“I tried soccer, netball and gymnastics but tenpin bowling was the only sport for me,” Clark said.

“If I look back to when I started, I do not think I could ever imagine representing my country and going to Sweden, Bangkok or Malaysia to compete.”
