VOLUNTEER organisations across Bonner are urged to apply for funding under the Australian Government’s Volunteer Grants program, with applications now open.

Grants of between $1000 and $5000 are available to eligible not-for-profit organisations that involve volunteers, providing practical support to strengthen local community initiatives.

Funding can be used to purchase communication and insurance items and/or services for all volunteers; purchase specified items and/or services for the main purpose of supporting volunteers under the age of 18 or adult volunteers supporting children; and purchase specified items and/or services to support volunteer-run activities for the main purpose of supporting children or parents/carers to support a child’s development.

In the previous round of Volunteer Grants, $59,994 was distributed to 23 local community organisations across Bonner, supporting grassroots groups and the volunteers who power them.

Federal Member for Bonner Kara Cook said the program highlights the vital role volunteers play in the community and ensures organisations have the resources they need to continue their work.

“Bonner is home to so many dedicated volunteers who give their time to support others, whether it’s at local sporting clubs, environmental groups, charities, or community organisations,” Ms Cook said.

“I encourage local volunteer organisations in Bonner to apply for this great opportunity.”

Local groups are encouraged to contact Ms Cook’s office to express interest.
