Kappa Pro Series kicks off with triple local challenge

THE Kappa Pro Series kicks off this Friday night, providing an early-season litmus test for Queensland’s leading men’s and women’s clubs—and local football fans will have three Bayside sides to follow as the knockout competition gets underway.

Designed to complement the regular league season, the Kappa Pro Series brings together NPL Men and FQPL 1 Men, along with FQPL 1 and FQPL 2 Women’s teams, in a format that prioritises meaningful match minutes against varied opposition.

Clubs are seeded into pools for a group stage, with pool winners advancing to a Finals Series later in the year.

For local supporters, Friday night delivers a double-header of home fixtures.

Capalaba FC open their campaign in Men’s Pool D, hosting Brisbane City at John Fredericks Park.

Kick-off is set for 7.30pm, with the home side keen to make an early statement against established NPL opposition in front of their supporters.

At the same time across the city, Redlands United launch their Men’s Pool E campaign at Amcal Arena, also at 7.30pm.

The Red Devils will take on Robina City, a fixture that looms as a strong early indicator of where both sides sit heading into the broader season.

Local interest continues into next week, with Wynnum Wolves entering the competition on Tuesday night.

The Wolves host St George Willawong at Carmichael Park on January 27, again with a 7.30pm kick-off, as part of Men’s Pool F.

Beyond results, the Kappa Pro Series is widely regarded as a valuable development and benchmarking competition—allowing coaches to test squads, integrate new signings, and expose players to finals-style intensity well before league points are on the line.

With three local clubs involved and multiple home fixtures to open the tournament, the Kappa Pro Series shapes as an ideal curtain-raiser to the 2026 football calendar across the Bayside.
