TWO homes have been destroyed after an early morning fire on Brisbane’s Bayside.

Emergency services were called to Pine St at Wynnum about 2am on Monday after reports a home was fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to a second property.

All occupants managed to escape without injury, although there were initial concerns a family dog may have been trapped inside the burning home.

Amid the devastation, the family received a heartwarming surprise when they were reunited with the dog.

Residents from nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution.

Lytton MP Joan Pease described the incident as devastating.

Councillor Alex Givney expressed her condolences to the families affected and praised the emergency crews.

Cr Givney also urged the community to respect the privacy of those affected.

At least 11 fire crews attended the scene, with the blaze brought under control by about 4am.

Queensland Police, Queensland Ambulance Service, Urban Utilities and Energex also responded.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
