Detectives have charged four teenagers following the alleged theft of a Mercedes Benz utility reported stolen from Wellington Point on 28 December, and a dangerous driving incident in Slacks Creek two days later.
Police allege the stolen vehicle was spotted around 8.30pm on 30 December at Muchow Road, Waterford West. Officers tracked the car with the assistance of POLAIR, and successfully deployed a tyre deflation device around 9.10pm on the Logan Motorway at Meadowbrook.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Charles Street, Beenleigh, where all four occupants allegedly fled on foot. They were quickly located and arrested by police.
A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected stolen property, a knife, cannabis, and drug utensils.
The charges:
- 16-year-old Logan Reserve boy: two counts of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle (night), plus one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle (publish on social media), unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, stealing, and enter dwelling and commit. He is due back at Beenleigh Children’s Court on 12 January.
- 14-year-old Park Ridge boy: one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Reappearance at Beenleigh Children’s Court on 23 January.
- 15-year-old Beenleigh boy: one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle in company, and fraud. Reappearance at Beenleigh Children’s Court on 23 January.
- 13-year-old Park Ridge boy: multiple charges including three counts of enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts each of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle (night) and stealing, and further charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle (publish on social media), enter dwelling and commit, enter dwelling with intent, attempted enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, and trespass. He is due to reappear
