World Jump Rope champion Luke Boon is turning the sport from a schoolyard activity to placing the sport on the 2032 Olympics radar.

Homegrown athlete Luke Boon started his skipping journey 20 years ago after seeing a school fate and since then has become a 68-time World Jump Rope Champion.

“It was a stereotypical schoolyard activity crossed with an extreme sport vibe and that was the day I became hooked,” he said.

Not only does Boon currently compete, but he also joined Cleveland Air Magic in their fourth year as a senior head coach.

Boon said the club had classes for everything and accommodated all ages, with the youngest athlete being only five years old.

Following in Boon’s footsteps are his nephews Will and George Duthie and his niece Poppy Duthie.

“In 10 years, I will still be in the sport in a coaching capacity, but they will possibly have the chance to perform at the Olympics which is such an incredible thing to see as an uncle,” he said.
