THE Wynnum Manly Seagulls will march into the Hostplus Cup finals full of confidence after a spirited 22-14 comeback win over the Brisbane Tigers at BMD Kougari Oval.

The result secured Wynnum a fourth-place finish and sets up a blockbuster clash with minor premiers Burleigh in the opening week of the post-season.

It didn’t come easy for the Seagulls, who were rocked early when the Tigers crossed twice inside the opening 10 minutes to lead 10-0.

Ronald Philitoga steadied the home side with a powerful try soon after, but Wynnum still trailed 10-6 at the break.

The second half belonged to the Seagulls.

Luke Gale crashed over in the 44th minute to hand Wynnum the lead for the first time, before fullback Ben Farr delivered a crucial strike midway through the half.

Liam Sutton sealed the result late, sending the Wynnum faithful into celebration mode.

The Seagulls will now travel to UAA Park to take on the Burleigh Bears on Sunday at 2pm.
