Mates Theatre Genesis Inc is hosting a workshop from 11am to 5pm on May 20 for actors interested in exploring work as role players and simulated patients.

Universities and corporate organisations have been employing actors to provide students with simulated experiences mimicking real world situations as a critical part of training for medical and allied health students.

The simulation provides the students with opportunities to practice interview techniques, communication skills and diagnostic investigation.

Using role players whether in a virtual environment or face-to-face has become an essential part of training for many organisations.

The workshop will be held at the Birkdale School of Arts Hall and facilitated by experienced role play actor, Libby Harrison.

Harrison has been role playing since 2004 across multiple environments, and runs Add Lib Casting, a boutique role player agency in Brisbane. She has been training actors to work as simulated patients for universities for 13 years.

Harrison said the workshop would provide participants with a sound understanding of all aspects of professional role playing, as well as contacts for how to gain employment.

Topics covered include acting for education, body language extension, scenario preparation, improvisation, heightened emotional states and provide accurate and concise feedback.

The cost is $80 for Mates members and $100 for non-members. Book on trybooking.com/CHIBB
