FITENI is calling on the Wellington Point and wider Redlands community to have their say on the design of a new neighbourhood park at the iconic former Botanix nursery site.

Closed to the public for more than 15 years, the redevelopment represents a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity to transform the landmark property into a vibrant new neighbourhood with green spaces and community facilities.

The Botanix master plan, developed after more than 1000 locals shared their ideas, sets out a vision for greater housing choice alongside new parks and community areas.

The neighbourhood park, to be located in the south-west corner of the site, is expected to become a central hub for long-standing residents as well as future newcomers.

Previous community feedback highlighted a strong desire for high-quality green spaces, with opportunities for adventure play and family gatherings around nature.

Fiteni is now seeking more specific ideas to shape the design, working with landscape architects ASPECT Studios.

“This is a rare opportunity to create a landmark space at Wellington Point that will bring people together,” Fiteni Executive Development Director Peter MacLeod said.

“Botanix has always held a special place in the heart of the local community, and we’re excited to see ideas that will inspire the park’s design. Fiteni is committed to delivering an outcome we can all be proud of for many years to come.”

Local schools will also be invited to take part, giving students a chance to contribute their ideas about the kind of facilities and play spaces they would like to see.

Community members can share their thoughts on elements such as styles of play, recreation and social spaces, and the natural environment by completing an online survey, which is open until midnight on October 19.

Details and the survey are available at: fitenihomes.com.au/botanix/park-have-your-say
