POLICE are appealing for information after a four-year-old girl was struck by a man riding a motorised e-bike at Thompson’s Beach, Victoria Point, about 3.35pm on April 17.

The rider, believed to be in his 50s, fled the scene.

The girl sustained minor injuries and was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Cleveland Police Acting Senior Sergeant Graham Steger said the incident could have had far more serious consequences.

“While the pedestrian’s injuries are minor on this occasion, this is not always the case,” he said.

“Collisions of this nature can result in life-changing injuries or death.”

He urged riders to take care on shared paths.

“It is important to ride to the conditions, especially taking care around pedestrians,” he said.

“We take the safety of all pedestrians and riders seriously.”

The rider is described as having dark hair, ear and nose piercings, wearing a dark motocross helmet and carrying a blue backpack. He was last seen heading towards Colburn Ave.

Anyone with information or footage is urged to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers. Reference: QP2500667192.
