Investigations are ongoing into a police involved shooting incident in Tingalpa yesterday, 3 March.

Officers were initially called to the Thurston Street address for a welfare check.

Police attempted to negotiate with the 21-year-old man, however around 10.30am the man threatened police whilst armed with a knife and he was shot.

Medical assistance was immediately rendered, however the man died at the scene.

During the incident, a male Senior Constable sustained a minor graze to his ear.

The officer received medical assistance at the scene and no further treatment was required.

Preliminary investigations indicate the officer’s injury was caused by a projectile discharged during police operations.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.

The matter is being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command on behalf of the State Coroner, with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission.
