From the Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) stage to the world stage, Redland Rhapsody Chorus singers are making their beautiful voices heard – loud and clear.

The chorus recently returned from Ohio in the US, where the group took out third place in the Sweet Adelines International Harmony Classic (AA Division).

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell congratulated the chorus on making history as one of only three Australian choruses ever to surpass the 1200-point mark in the competition.

“This incredible women’s a cappella chorus won the 2024 Sweet Adelines Region 34 Championship to qualify for the international stage this year in the AA Division,” the Mayor said.

“Finishing in third place in the world and with the third-highest score ever by an Australian chorus at that level is a stunning and well-deserved achievement.”

The chorus was recently announced as a Program Partner in the new Redlands Arts Partnership Program (RAPP) for 2026.

As a RAPP Program Partner, the chorus will receive tailored support from Redland City Council and RPAC to help grow their creative practice and deepen community engagement across Redlands Coast.

“We can’t wait to see, and hear, the harmony they bring – both on stage and in our Redlands Coast community,” the Mayor said.

RAPP offers support through two tiers of partnership – Companies in Residence and Program Partners – and is tailored to the needs of each organisation.

Companies in Residence are long-term partnerships with cultural organisations that work consistently with the community across development, performance and participatory practice. Program Partners are Redlands-based collectives or emerging companies supported to deliver specific projects or build their long-term sustainability.

RAPP partners for 2026:

  • Companies in Residence – Redland Sinfonia, Redland City Choir, Sing Sing Sing, indelarts.
  • Program Partners – Redland Rhapsody Chorus, Brisbane Excelsior Band, MATES Theatre Genesis, Play It Forward, Redland City Bands, Theatre Redlands.
