LIFELONG Redlands resident Shane Kelsey has built a thriving real estate career while staying deeply involved in his community.
Born into a real estate family, Mr Kelsey, from LJ Hooker, has followed in his father’s footsteps.
“I am a second-generation real estate agent after my dad Brian was in the industry for the best part of 30 years – also in the Redlands,” he said.
Despite exploring other paths, he was drawn back to property.
“There’s something special about owning your own home and being able to help people on the journey of finding that next dream property, it’s hard to describe,” Mr Kelsey said.
A father-of-two, Mr Kelsey sponsors local sports clubs, enjoys lawn bowls, and supports his children’s sports activities.
His life is guided by the ethos: “Treat others as you would like to be treated.”
Mr Kelsey said he kept his life and real estate career simple and client-focused.
One major hope is that the Redlands can retain its heritage.
“I would hope that the Redlands can keep the name as it was originally a big farming area with the great red soil,” he said.
“Hopefully, it can keep some of those grass roots and be known for being a hard-working area with a strong economy.”
Despite a busy schedule, Mr Kelsey cherishes family time, enjoying the Redlands’ parks and green spaces.
A longtime member of Victoria Point Bowls and Recreation Club, he highly values its welcoming atmosphere.
“Having been a member for over 20 years and being third generation part of the club, it is an important place for me,” he said.
“The ability to have a game of bowls with friends and family in a place where everyone is welcome – it ticks all the boxes at old-school prices.”
Looking ahead, Mr Kelsey remains optimistic about the Redlands real estate market.
“I think the Redlands is in a very solid position,” he said.
“With the recent interest rate cut, it has brought further strength into the market.
“I’m expecting to see a steady increase (in prices) for 2025.”
