TRAINER Tom Tzouvelis has claimed his third consecutive $112,500 Capalaba Cup after race favourite Secret Story delivered a commanding performance on Sunday afternoon.
Jumping as the $2.70 favourite, the Shima Shine x Ice Cream Story chaser exploded from the boxes to take an early lead and never looked back, securing a dominant victory in the feature event.
Alston finished second, while Blue Blend filled the minor placing.
Blue Blend’s trainer Jeff Crawford praised both his dog’s effort and the class of the winner.
“He tried hard and ran a good race,” Crawford said.
“Beaten by a very, very good track specialist that was perfectly boxed and ran accordingly.
“Looking forward to the heats of the upcoming Derby at Q1 next week on a track more to his liking.”
The win adds another impressive line to Secret Story’s record, now boasting 12 wins and seven placings from 20 starts – a 58 per cent win strike rate.
It capped off a stellar day for Tzouvelis, who also took out the Bob Vernon Memorial Final earlier in the program with Zipping Kravitz, the $1.70 favourite.
