Thornlands actress Scarlett Monks, 9, has her sight set on gold as the only Australian to make it through to the World Monologue Games Global Finals.
The event is one of the world’s largest acting showcases and features thousands of participants from more than 100 countries.
Scarlett is the only Australian to make it through to the global finals in the Tigers (under-12) category.
The selection process for the finals involved industry experts from across the globe, including renowned actors, film directors and a three-time Emmy-winning casting director.
The young actress is one of just 86 competitors spread across six categories who have earned a place in the Global Finals.
Scarlett said it was an incredible moment when she heard her name announced as one of the winners.
“I now have the opportunity to perform alongside the most talented actors worldwide at the global finals, with my sights set on winning a bronze, silver, or even a gold medal for Australia,” she said.
Scarlett said the monologue she would perform for the finals showed the sad emotions of saying goodbye to a beloved family dog but also the huge joy a pet can bring to kids.
“Competing on the global stage is a dream come true, and I am eagerly looking forward to sharing my work,” she said.
The World Monologue Games Global Finals will be livestreamed on November 17, 18, 24 and 25.
To support Scarlett in her bid to win gold for Australia, you can watch and vote for Scarlett in the Tigers category on Friday, November 17 at 7pm.
