REDLANDS Coast’s must-do Easter experiences have been unveiled, with Jos Mitchell revealing her top five picks for the long weekend.
From island getaways to coastal walks and outdoor adventures, the list is being pitched as a guide for both locals and visitors looking to make the most of the break.
“Our bay islands are ideal for day trips or weekend getaways, but there are also plenty of things to do on the mainland and its foreshores,” the Mayor said.
“Even simple pastimes like bike riding, having a picnic or barbecue, are better when you visit Redlands Coast.
“The collections at our mainland and island museums tell a coastal story of growth and change, while the many art galleries and studios reflect the city’s thriving arts community.
“Of course, I also strongly encourage local residents to explore the wonderful experiences their city has to offer – literally right on their doorsteps – over this weekend.”
Here’s what made the list:
A quick ferry ride to Coochiemudlo Island, where visitors can explore three beaches and walk the island end-to-end in under 20 minutes.
A day out at Raby Bay Foreshore Park, with water bikes, paddle sports and the chance to spot dolphins and dugong.
Outdoor adventures through the region’s conservation areas, including trails in the Eastern Escarpment and Don and Christine Burnett Conservation Area.
A trip to North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), taking in Dunwich’s arts scene, Amity Point’s relaxed village feel and the iconic Gorge Walk at Point Lookout.
And the popular low-tide walk from Wellington Point Reserve to King Island, where visitors can explore mangroves, wildlife and marine life left behind by the receding tide.
The Mayor said there was “no better way” to experience the region than getting outdoors, encouraging people to pack a picnic, explore local parks and take advantage of the coast’s natural beauty over the Easter break.
