The Palaszczuk government knows the value and security a good job provides.

That’s why I am proud to be part of a government that is making significant investments in the facilities available to our young people here in Redlands.

Locally, 1800 Redlanders have enrolled at TAFE Alexandra Hills this financial year already, studying courses such as nursing, early childhood education and care, electrotechnology electrician, carpentry, plumbing, engineering – fabrication trade, and accounting and bookkeeping.

The Palaszczuk Government has invested more than $15 million in the Alexandra Hills TAFE campus to build a new nursing and allied health facility, upgrades to the engineering and construction blocks, a new plumbing trades training block, a new electrical workshop and a student hub.

Previously supported by the Palaszczuk Government’s Free TAFE for Under 25s program, and now by the Albanese government’s Fee Free TAFE program, we are looking to attract more young people into trades to create good secure jobs in our traditional and emerging industries.

We are now supporting more young people than ever before with greater courses than ever before, ensuring we have a highly-skilled workforce in Queensland now and into the future.

These investments didn’t happen by accident. A Labor Government will always back education and training and we have proudly restored vocational training in this state.

During the dark days of the LNP Newman Government, staff, services and facilities at our local TAFE were decimated. They were preparing to close it down and sell it off.

In stark contrast, our government has completely transformed and restored the campus into a modern, world-class facility.

With approximately 84 per cent of TAFE Queensland graduates going on to employment or further study after completing their training, it provides a great career pathway.

To any young person, especially school leavers this year, I strongly encourage you to consider one of our fee-free TAFE courses. It is a life-changing opportunity to train for a career you are passionate about.

The Alexandra Hills TAFE campus is located on Windemere Road.

For more details, a list of course offerings and information on how to apply, go online to tafeqld.edu.au.
