IT was another big week for the Redlands junior squad as the club’s next generation continued to achieve at representative and state level.

Three major stories headlined a busy week across the junior program, reinforcing Redlands reputation as one of Queensland’s leading development clubs.

The Redlands Brisbane Metropolitan Cricket Division 2 team booked their place in the grand final after holding their nerve in a gripping and low-scoring semi-final victory against Wolston Park Centenary.

Defending a total of 79, the Redlands bowlers dug deep into their bag of tricks to win a tense contest that went deep into the final overs.

Captain Jed Jury was outstanding, taking 3 for 14 and setting the tone for a disciplined bowling unit.

Christian Rohm Hurford with 2 for 11, Tobias Jorna with 2 for 21 and Kaleb Millard with 1 for 24 maintained relentless pressure, before Mekhi Hunter (1 for 6) delivered the knockout blow for Redlands.

The success of Redlands junior pathway was further highlighted by major state selections this week.

Lachlan McClure, one of the club’s most promising young all-rounders, has earned a place in the Queensland Under 19 team for the National Championships in Adelaide this December.

Adding further pride to the Redlands program, talented young fast bowler Tom Vaseo has been named in the Queensland Under 17 preparation squad, putting him firmly in contention for the national championships in January.

Club Life Member and Junior Coordinator Dom Cassell praised the continued growth and depth of the Redlands junior program.

“Our junior program has really built some great momentum over the past few years,” Cassell said.

“The spirit, work ethic and enthusiasm we see across all age groups is a credit to everyone involved including players, coaches and families.

“The improvement we’ve seen through the whole squad is plain to see and we look forward to watching them move through the grade ranks in the coming years.
