REDLANDS enjoyed a milestone weekend with the bat as Brayden Laffan and Jack Sonter both reached triple figures, producing performances that underlined the strength and depth of the club across grades.

In 1st Grade, Laffan scored his first century for Redlands, an achievement made even more impressive by the fact it came at the highest level of club cricket.

His innings of 102 was built on patience, discipline and a strong understanding of the conditions, anchoring the innings and setting a platform for the side.

The knock marked an important personal milestone and reflected Laffan’s growing confidence and influence at first grade level.

Across in 2nd Grade, Jack Sonter continued his outstanding season by compiling a superb 124, further cementing his position as the leading run scorer in the grade.

Sonter’s consistency and ability to bat for long periods has been a standout feature of his campaign, and his latest innings served as another statement that higher grade opportunities are not far away.

Redlands stalwart Leigh Drennan was full of praise for Laffan’s performance, highlighting both the quality and maturity shown at such an early stage of his first-grade career.

“Brayden was outstanding,” Drennan said.

“To bat the way he did in just his second game in first grade shows a lot about his temperament and work ethic.

“He was composed, patient and really took control of the innings when it mattered.”

The pair of centuries speaks strongly to the pathway in place at Redlands, with players performing under pressure and earning rewards through sustained form.

For Laffan, it was a breakthrough moment at first grade level, while for Sonter it was further evidence of a player building a strong case for selection in the upper grades.

Attention now turns to the final weekend of cricket before the Christmas and New Year break.

It shapes as a great opportunity to finish the year strongly before players and supporters alike enjoy watching Redlands representatives in action across the Big Bash and the Ashes.
