AS art enthusiasts lined up outside, the grand opening of the Redlands Coast Art Society proved to be “more successful than anyone could have anticipated”.
The Redlands Coast Art Society welcomed 60 visitors to the grand opening of its new studio in Capalaba.
The grand opening featured a People’s Choice Artwork competition, a raffle with exciting prizes, and food and drinks for delighted guests to enjoy.
Secretary Peter Wallach declared the event a resounding success, far exceeding his expectations.
“We most certainly did not expect to see people waiting to enter before 10am,” he said.
“There was a steady stream of visitors throughout the day, with even more arriving after 2.30pm.”
Mayor Jos Mitchell and Division 10 Councillor Paul Bishop attended the event, with the Mayor delivering an inspiring speech that celebrated the society’s progress in the Redlands.
Aiming to gain new members, Mr Wallach proudly announced that six visitors signed up on the spot, while another five expressed interest and took information to finalise their memberships in the coming days.
“The event gave our committee members a great deal of confidence to run more art exhibitions of a regular basis,” he said.
Mr Wallach noted that one of the day’s highlights was selling a painting during the event.
“The president, Angela Bruce, was very pleased to have sold her painting on the day,” he said.
“It was a great achievement.”
