On Wednesday evening Redlands United played host to fellow NPL side Brisbane City in Round 5 of the Kappa Queensland Cup.

Straight from the kickoff both sides were intent on playing attacking football. City had the first opportunity of the night when they were awarded a penalty in the first minute of the game for an alleged handball in the box.

Redlands Goalkeeper Will Smith saved the penalty brilliantly to deny the visitors. It was Redlands who were first to score on 11 minutes when Michael Lee’s driven shot from outside the penalty box gave the City Keeper no chance.

However, 2 goals in a 4 minute period by City just before the half hour mark saw the visitors take a 1-2 lead.As the 2nd half recommenced, Redlands Keeper Smith was called on to produce a great 1 on 1 save when City’s speed penetrated the Red Devils; defensive line.

It was City however who opened the scoring for the 2nd half on 50 minutes taking a 2-3 lead. minute later 3-5. Despite pressuring the City goal for the remaining 6 or 7 minutes it was not to be for the Red Devils and Brisbane City progressed to the next round of the Queensland Cup.

Redlands then backed up on Saturday evening for their 8th game .
