REDLANDS Cycling and Multisport Club (RCMC) athletes delivered outstanding performances across multiple events recently, led by a strong showing at Ironman Western Australia in Busselton.
Six RCMC athletes – Chris Hill, David Murtagh, Martin Mitchell, Michael Pelka, Wayne Knott and Matt Brace – completed the full Ironman (3.8km swim, 180km ride, 42.2km run).
A standout performance came from Hill, who returned to Ironman racing after years of health setbacks, finishing in 12hrs 13mins in a determined effort.
Mitchell also celebrated a major milestone, completing his first ever Ironman.
In the Ironman 70.3 Aquabike, Kate Gayner produced an exceptional result, winning her age group and finishing second overall female.
Closer to home, David Lyons finished second in round two of the Wild West XCO Series and now leads his category, with the next round at Kooralbyn in two weeks.
RCMC also enjoyed a successful day at the Raby Bay Triathlon, with 18 athletes competing.
Club relay teams claimed category wins in both the mixed and women’s divisions, while several athletes recorded podium finishes.
